Sneaky Way I Saved 44% With Blastoff

Today, I decided I was going to buy some gifts from Borders for some friends, and it hit me to do it through Blastoff.
So, I sign in, go to the Blastoff Mall, and confirm Borders is a Blastoff parter.
However, something caught my eye.
Under the Borders logo, I see a little +Specials (3), and curiosity forced me to click it.
There, I saw three Blastoff-only specials for Borders purchases.
All three special offers were great deals, but I decided to get sneaky.
I bought $60 of gift-cards for $50, and I’ll get cash back for making the purchase through Blastoff.
* keep in mind that Borders is one of the stores that credits your Blastoff account for gift card purchases — not all stores do that.
Here’s where it gets sneaky
I’m going to use my new gift cards for one of the other mall specials!
I haven’t decided which of the others will save me the most, but I’ll be saving at least 25% off my next purchase.
So, to sum it up:
- I got $60 for $50. (saved $10)
- I’ll get about 5% back for the purchase. (get paid $2.50)
- I’ll spend my $60 gift cards to buy $80 with a 25% discount. (saved $20)
- I’ll get about 5% back for that purchase too. (get paid $3)
That means an $80 Borders purchase cost me $44.50.
Pretty sneaky, eh?
Blastoff Mall lists hundreds of stores, and many of them advertise Blastoff-only deals for super savings.
That’s the potential of Blastoff Network.

No, I don’t know them all Don. Blastoff is working on compiling a list of them, but a way you can check if a specific vendor is gift-card friendly is to go to that company’s affiliate Terms Of Service or agreement and search for the term gift card.
It’s usually listed specifically as an exception that they do not pay affiliates for gift card purchases.
If the vendor pays affiliates (specifically Blastoff Network) for gift card purchases, then Blastoff Network will pay us for them too.
To find the affiliate TOS for a company, I usually just Google the company and affiliate, like “Borders affiliate” and it’s one of the top results. I love Google.

UPDATE:
The supported gift-card vendors for Blastoff rebates are now listed in the Blastoff Mall.
Go to your Blastoff Mall and under the Categories dropdown, select “Gift Cards and Certificates” then Go.
It will list the vendors that support rebates for gift-card purchases, and there is currently 30 of them.
So much easier than my old way!
